Dancing at the Dundas Driving Park back in 2023
This Spring (2022), our outdoor Driving Park dances will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesdays or Wednesdays, depending on the weather. Make sure you're on the mailing list (fill out the form, below, if you're not) to get the last-minute updates.
The Dundas Senior Citizens' Club (ages 55+) is back to dancing at the Community Centre on Thursdays at 1:30 p.m. For now, we are limited to 15 dancers on a first-come, first-served basis. We continue to wear masks while dancing. For more information, please email dundasinternationalfolkdance@gmail.com.
When indoor dancing was cancelled due to the pandemic, a group of local dancers started dancing outside in the Dundas Driving Park. Even though indoor dancing is slowly starting to resume, we're enjoying our outdoor dances so much that we've decided to continue them.
We dance once a week in the Driving Park, weather permitting. In order to take advantage of the best dancing day, we send out an email each week letting people know which day (Tuesday or Wednesday) and at what time the dance will take place (usually 1:30 p.m.). If you're not already on our email list, you can sign up using the form, below. We'll also update this website weekly to let you know. (See the banner at the top of the page.)
Please feel free to join us. Currently, there is no cost, and all the dances are taught, reviewed and prompted by the leader. We won’t mind if you mess up—we do it all the time. In fact, that’s part of the fun!
We dance "International Folk Dancing": traditional and modern dances from many countries around the world. We don’t perform: we’re an informal, recreational group and we dance for the pure joy of it. You don't need a partner to join in. It’s great exercise, a fabulous way to socialize, and a celebration of the many cultures which make Canada such a rich and interesting place to live.
For now, we're continuing to wear masks and to physically-distance during our events. (In normal times, most of the dances are danced in a circle holding hands.)
